We all know that “beauty is only skin deep” — or so say several motivational books! But then which woman does not want to look and feel great about themselves.

From a very young age I had heard my mother gush about Shahnaz Husain. She often told me how Shahnaz Husain’s products were the first Asian products she had seen in department stores Selfridges and Harrods in London.

When I got older and learnt more about cosmetics and make up, I was intrigued as to what her products offered in comparison to the usual brands available in the market but once I tried them on my skin I was converted for life! On the Zee Companion show, Shahnaz gave some great tips to our viewers to achieve great skin, hair and nails. She insists that it is vital to avoid 3 things: “chocolate, fizzy drinks and junk food!”

I remember watching Shahnaz give some great tips and tips to people on a Zee TV show called ‘Khoobsoorat’ many years ago and her larger than life personality combined with her expertise made me an instant fan. She is without a doubt a living legend, with a business valued at over one billion pounds. She has recently written the forward for the book ‘Being Modi’, a new coffee table book based on the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Shahnaz openly stated that she believes Mr Modi (PM) is doing a fantastic job for India locally, nationally and internationally. His new initiatives and plans such as Swacch Bharat  also known as Campaign Clean India programme (where each person takes a few minutes each week to clean their local area in the hope it would result in a ‘Clean India’ by 2nd October 2019, 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. This is just one example of the great things Prime Minister Modi is doing to develop India and she is looking forward to him coming to the UK soon.

According to Shahnaz, “It is important to think about one’s afterlife.” Hence, nowadays she places a lot of emphasis on charity work. Not only does she actively work for blind children in India, she is also developing several charitable projects aimed at female empowerment.
