Balbir Bhujhangy has been performing on stage for over 50 years. He has been awarded the ‘Longest running Bhangra band in the UK’ for ‘Bhujhangy Group’ by the Guinness Book of World Records and also the ‘Pioneer of Bhangra Music in the UK’. He and his brother formed the ‘Bhujhangy Group’ when they learnt Sikh history, Indian tabla and harmonium, and sang religious hymns in their local Sikh Temple. The young group began spreading their talent by singing in temples and went on to become famous – releasing more than 300 songs which were a mixture of Religious Songs, Gurbani Shabads, Qawwali and Panjabi/Urdu Ghazals, Panjabi folk songs, Hindi songs, Classical songs and Panjabi Bhangra music.
